IT'S UMUNGOUS
At Umungo we are constantly a part of online influence by following social media campaigns, commenting and publishing content on blogs, watching and discussing videos on YouTube, following emerging web 2.0 social mediums and participating within various social communities and utilities. On this section of our site we would like to share some of our experiences, insights and opinions about online influence and the rise of social media with you. Please feel free to join our discussion!
EVANGELISM
A super strong connection that naturally incites action towards a common purpose. Evangelism is the result of an undivided focus on the customer, and the fervent wish to communicate an idea to them. It is not so much a marketing strategy as a frame of mind. When successful it results in a network of people where the lines of communication are open and everyone is out to improve the world together with you.
Customer evangelists are people who advertise for your product without (monetary) compensation. They are key for a company's true success, for they represent satisfied and devoted customers. To evangelize your own product, or create customer evangelists, you must (a) create an idea, (b) differentiate from the market, and (c) construct a model whose base is the customer.
DIGITAL INFLUENCE
The fusion of public relations and interactive marketing strategies to attain high levels of engagement and influence within the online world. In essence, digital influence is the mechanism for creating and amplifying conversation amongst valued constituents across the web. On a large scale, digital influence is the aggregate sum of targeted communication efforts, built to deliver the power of influence and be spread across proven social mediums.
VIRAL MARKETING
Viral Marketing = Compelling Content + Web 2.0
Viral Marketing:
The sum of how many times your message is spread after the first time you release it.
Compelling Content
Content that provokes users to edit, share, or create additional content.
Web 2.0
Web 2.0 doesn't have a hard boundary, but rather, a gravitational core. You can visualize Web 2.0 as a set of principles and practices that tie together a veritable solar system of sites that demonstrate some or all of those principles, at a varying distance from that core.
Tim O'Reilly What is Web 2.0
CO-CREATED CONTENT/MASHUP
The collaborative sum of efforts between the original content creator and anyone thereafter. Co-Created content can become viral in nature as users share, rate, and track the progression of content.
DIGITAL MANIFEST
The total amount of accessible information about someone on the web.
SELF ORGANIZATION
The process in which something becomes more intricately organized without a clear contributable force.
Why is this relevant? Self organization has been an evolutionary phenomena that has molded the content structure of the world we live in today. Today's social platforms (web 2.0) enable for collaborative outcomes that could have taken 1, 2, 10, 100, even 500 years to occur in only a fraction of the time because they bridge the geographical boundaries that limit large-scale participation.
Imagine if Isaac Newton could of put his theory of 'Universal Gravitation' on some of the social mediums that exist today. Would it of taken as long to be so widely accepted?
CONSTITUENCIES
Groups that have the ability to exert influence within a particular field of interest. Effective Digital Influence Strategy hits a bigger group than direct customers; it affects all valuable constituents which play a part in determining the strength of your market position.
DIGITAL-WORD-OF-MOUTH
The spreading of messages as a result of compelling content and web 2.0 mediums that enable massive online collaboration. DWOM powers the sharing/creation of content, opinions, and trends across broad common and uncommon online social groups.
